Kayeon Lee

UCLA AUD alumna Kayeon Lee is a Registered Architect in New York State with extensive experience in the design of towers and mixed-use developments in New York City and Asia. Currently, she is working as a Senior Architect at Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) in New York City. With BIG, she has worked on projects ranging in scale and typology, from a private beach house in New Jersey and a 54-story office tower in Midtown Manhattan to Google’s Caribbean Campus in Sunnyvale, California. From 2013 to 2017, Kayeon was a Senior Associate at SHoP Architects, where she worked on the design and construction of the 111 West 57th Street tower in Midtown Manhattan. Kayeon gained her Asia experience at Buro Ole Scheeren in Beijing, working on mixed-use twin towers, DUO in Singapore. Kayeon received her Master of Architecture from UCLA in 2012 and a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville.

Kayeon will be teaching a 401 Advanced Topics Studio entitled Prefab Urban Cohousing. This third year M.Arch. studio will explore contemporary urbanism, the multi-family residential building typology, and the current housing shortage in Southern California by seeking novel architectural solutions that utilize prefabricated building systems. Students will design a cohousing community that promotes social interactions and develop new concepts of organization and assembly to challenge the monotonous stacks of boxes and conventional mass-to site relationships that are predominant in the recent modular construction.

Regina Teng

Regina Teng runs her eponymous design studio from Los Angeles. Her work focuses on the intersection of landscape, nature and culture. These interests are explored via building, form, material, and representation. Previously, she was a Project Designer at Kazuyo Sejima + Ryue Nishizawa / SANAA. She also trained at offices including Johnston Marklee, SO-IL, and LTL Architects. Regina earned her M.Arch I from Princeton University.

This fall, Regina will be teaching 411 Introductory Design Studio with Julia Koerner, Benjamin Freyinger, and Jake Matatyaou. This first year M.Arch. studio introduces cutting edge design methodologies and explores social and political topics by introducing a specific program and site. This year's program addresses gender diversity and social status in the framework of a public bath facility at a beachfront, which serves different users. It is the ambition of the studio to formulate a heterogeneous discourse around these topics.
