Infrastructural Territories: The Portal

401 Advanced Topics Studio
2019

This studio looked at specific LA sites bound by modern city infrastructure of different scales: from railroads, freeway and waterways that segregate our city, to defensive barricades such as sound barriers, fences and bollards that impact our movement. Students were challenged to program, design and connect a portal that breaks through, circumvents or engages with these barriers to form a new mode of civic organization.
