This is Not a Party Wall
122 Studio II
2018, 2019
The primary object of study for this studio is the architectural section. Taking as a starting point a purposeful misreading of a plan, the project will unfold and intensify sectional possibilities out of planimetric flatness, moving beyond the idea of a stack and core to accommodate two dissenting programs. Students considered two houses in one with a central circulation/party wall as an armature for negotiating the diverse section and distinct needs of each residence — considerations that necessitated a heterogeneous resolution in relation to the architectural object as a whole rather than a one-size-fits all attitude.
